Attire: Workout clothes. Shorts are not recommended. No jewelry. This is a full-contact seminar, you will be working cooperatively with a partner, in very close proximity, please keep finger & toe nails clipped short.

Do I need anything? All you need is to arrive a few minutes early and wear comfortable clothing you can work out in. A water bottle is suggested, but we also have water & Gatorade available for purchase at the dojo.

What is jiu-jitsu? Gracie Jiu-Jitsu is a martial art based on the principles of leverage and timing. It trains students in practical self-defense techniques that conserve energy, while forcing attackers to waste energy. Students are trained to end fights through achieving control of an attacker, finishing with a choke-hold, and/or making space to get away.

Will I learn what to do if my attacker has a weapon? No. Weapon training is very advanced due to the extremely high risk factor. There are moves to help fend off an attacker with a weapon, however, we will not be going over these techniques during the seminar. If you'd like to learn more, sign up for our Women's Self Defense course.

So what will I learn? We will be going over a few techniques addressing some of the most common attacks a woman encounters. These may include (but are not limited to): being grabbed and pulled, being choked, and being pinned to the ground.

If you have any questions, please email us at BmoreGJJ@gmail.com.
